The Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘FANI’ (pronounced as ‘FONI’) has touched 180 kmph, made landfall in Puri district, Odisha, on 3 rd May 2019 around 11AM.

More than 11 lakhs people were evacuated to safer places. Huge damage are being reported by the volunteers from Puri, due to high wind speed and followed by rain. Widespread damage to infrastructure, housing, drinking water sources, health, Plants, public infrastructure, communication, schools & Livelihood.

We have wide network of volunteers in all the red alert issued districts of Odisha, who has been continuously updating on the ground situations. More than 50 volunteers are on roster for Puri district of Odisha. There has been regular monitoring on the early warning of the Fani Cyclone and the same were widely circulated in different digital platforms.

IVN has established a warehouse, ready with relief kits for distribution with active support from local volunteers.

We are targeting to reach 1000 families with immediate relief Kits to most affected community Brahmagiri & Astharanga Blocks of Puri District of Odisha. Children special care centres are of urgent need in the relief camps, which will be coordinated through local administrations.
